Lisowski Storms into Northern Ireland Open Semis, Hawkins Edges Out Gilbert

Jack Lisowski produced a clinical display to defeat Ricky Walden 5-1 and reach the semi-finals of the Northern Ireland Open. The world No. 13 enjoyed a 98% pot success rate and punished Walden’s mistakes ruthlessly.

Lisowski snatched the opening frame with a break of 42, before Walden responded with a superb 132 century. However, Lisowski won the next three frames in succession, including a 128 clearance in frame four. Walden pulled a frame back, but Lisowski sealed the win with a break of 73.

Barry Hawkins also battled into the semi-finals, defeating David Gilbert 5-4 in a thrilling encounter. Hawkins began brightly with a 134 century, but Gilbert restored parity in the second frame. Hawkins then won three frames in a row to take a 3-1 lead, but Gilbert fought back to level at 4-4. In the decider, Hawkins’ quality shone through as he wrapped up a deserved win.

Lisowski will now face either Chris Wakelin or Yuan Sijun in the semi-finals, while Hawkins will meet Judd Trump or Stephen Maguire.
